Do Not Diet If You Do Not Need To Lose WeightWe all know someone who talks about their need to lose weight all the time and they don't have an ounce of fat on their skinny little bodies. Most of us want to roll our eyes. The assumption is that the person just wants attention. But that isn't necessarily the case. It is possible to believe you need to lose weight when you really don't. You might even be the person I'm talking about.
How to know if your desire to lose weight makes sense:1. Get on the internet and look up healthy weight recommendations. If you fall into the category you should be in for your height and frame, then you do not need to lose weight.
2. Talk to your doctor. Doctors are notorious truth tellers when it comes to our health habits. If the doctor says you don't need to lose weight, then you can believe it. If the doctor says you can stand to lose weight, ask them exactly how much.
3. Consider what you are basing your body image on. Are you basing your "fatness" on the models in your favorite fashion magazine? Newsflash: Many of them are far too thin for their own health and the ones that aren't are usually air-brushed to appear that way. Are you basing it on your favorite celebrity's body? Don't do that, either. They may be anorexic or they may have problems gaining weight. Never base your self-image on someone else's body. That is one of the worst reasons to lose weight.
Don't try to lose weight because someone called you chubby or fat. Sometimes people say those things to hurt you simply because they know you feel that way. Other times, they might say it because they are actually jealous of your physique.
Even if you do need to lose weight, people shouldn't talk to you like that and you should not give them the satisfaction of being the "reason" behind your weight loss.
Another thought to consider: If healthy weight recommendations say you are fine, then maybe your flabby tummy/butt/arms/thighs just need some toning! It may not be a weight problem but rather a fitness problem.
So you don't need to lose weight, but you do need to gain muscle:- Evaluate your diet and make sure you are getting adequate protein. Add some protein -- in place of some unhealthy foods.
- Start doing pushups and sit-ups. Get some free weights and start lifting them. Do squats and lunges.
- Go to the gym and tell a fitness expert about your goal-- which areas are you looking to tone? They can tell you which machines to use to tone your muscles.
Keep in mind that if you are thin you definitely do not need to lose weight.
